Solace
Digging introspectively to determine the reason I photograph myself, I observed a need for peace and calmness in my image making practice. While these come from a place of meditation they are themselves, observational in nature. Searching for solace; I was drawn to the water, where sound travels further and sight is clearer I found myself further away from answers than ever before. This became a metaphor for the isolation I explored and created through self portraiture. Isolation in an attempt to understand and be comforted by the impact of others, creating aloneness I began to feel comfort in.
